LIGHTS AND TIRES AND BRAKES…

Story by Charles Carvalho

Do you need a roof rack, some new tires, or maybe a window de-icer? I am definitely the guy to talk to. I have worked with BMW for 23 years, and I know BMWs inside out and backwards; every bolt, wire and screw. You wouldn’t necessarily want me to take your BMW apart and put it back together, but I could name almost every component. However, my number one priority is making sure we have all of your BMW’s necessary parts in stock!

I started in the BMW world with Vancouver Auto as an apprentice technician in 1981, and then became a Parts Advisor in 1984. When BMW opened in Richmond I moved there and worked as a Parts Advisor for the next eight years. I started with Brian Jessel BMW and Subaru as the Parts Manager in 1993. When I began we had two parts department employees with $150,000 in combined inventory. Today, 11 years later, Brian Jessel BMW’s parts department has eight employees, with $1,000,000 worth of inventory. A lot of growth has taken place, along with a few growing pains, but we are feeling stronger than ever before.

The dealership as a whole is a work of art, and the location is perfectly central for our customers’ easy access.

Working for Brian has been an amazing experience! There have been so many highlights, changes, and rewards which has kept me challenged and passionate about my job. Building our new dealership has been a huge undertaking and accomplishment. The parts department storage area has doubled and is now 5500 square feet, and this does not include our Remstar Vertical Carousel system. We are the first BMW retailer in Canada to use this system, and man, is it fine! The dealership as a whole is a work of art, and the location is perfectly central for our customers’ easy access. My drive to work may be a bit further than before, but that is okay as it now gives me the opportunity to drive my Harley more often! We are very proud of our new parts department, and I want to show it off. I invite you to stop by and take a tour.
